Red mud-baked Kasbahs beneath the stunning Atlas mountains; seething souks; lively bazaars; pulsating sounds of music and the frequent calls to prayer; the vibrant colours; wonderful smells and exotic experiences; nowhere is as fascinating and bewildering as Morocco, a country full of contrasting images and colourful sights. Morocco offers an exciting and enchanting uniquely African experience less than four hours flying time from the UK. This trip is especially for those of you with a sense of adventure. We have put together a magical Moroccan adventure with a taste of everything; the bustling city of Marrakech, the simple Berber lifestyle in the mountains and the lovely seaside fishing village, old port and beach resort of Essaouira. MarrakechWe fly to Marrakech and spend a few nights Half Board in a traditionally-designed but newly-built Riad with swimming pool, a few kilometers outside of Marrakech with en suite rooms. Riad M'Hidou has a swimming pool and is a peaceful haven. During the day we will organize a trip into the bustling city of Marrakech, and take a look around the souks and bazaars, the market stalls in the Medina. We will marvel at the story-tellers, the colourful water sellers, the snake charmers and acrobats before returning for a dip in the pool and our evening meal in the peace and tranquility of our Riad (2 nights Half Board). Berber village lifeThe next day we transfer to the foothills of the High Atlas mountains and stay in a Gite - a village house with a local family. The accommodation here will be shared and basic and will provide an opportunity to see how other people live in the world. The welcome is wonderfully hospitable. You will need to bring your own sleeping bags. All our food will be prepared for us by our hosts and is freshly-made from local produce. Vegetarians as well as meat eaters can enjoy the traditional tajines (meat, fish or vegetable dishes cooked in a traditional conical-shaped pot), couscous, fantastic salads, rice as well as great soups and fresh fruits (2 nights Full Board).
• Other Holidays - Just4You Moroccan Adventure Gifts for the children of Imlil and ArmedWhen we stay in the Berber village we have arranged an opportunity to give some small gifts to the children of the village. You can bring some children's clothes that are no longer required or some basic English reading books, pens, pencils and paper for use in the school. (Most of the children go to school, except around harvest time, when they are needed in the fields.) Exploring EssaouiraThe adventure continues when we visit the old port and fishing village of Essaouira, once the base for pirates, and in the 60s a hippy hangout and favourite of Jimi Hendrix. Essaouira is now a great place to explore the narrow streets or enjoy the wide sandy beach. The resort welcomes visitors, many Moroccans holiday there, but this is a far cry from the more touristy resorts of Agadir. From here we take an excursion out to Sidi Kaouaki for a camel ride (2 nights Full Board). The Mystery and Magic of MarrakechFor our last night we return to the mystery and magic of Marrakech. This time we will stay in Riad Omar right in the heart of the old city (Medina) of Marrakech and a last opportunity for you to haggle for treasures from the souks. The rooms in the Riad are arranged around a courtyard. All the rooms are en suite and the Riad has its own Hamman, where you can have a steam bath and scrub followed by a relaxing massage. The food in the Riad is superb and the buffet breakfast offers a wide choice of hot and cold options. Sadly this will be our last night before our departure the following day (1 night Half Board). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mango Holidays sometimes referred to as MangoKids run holidays for single parents with their children. Small families with just one or two children are often penalised by the big tour operators who charge for two adults. Mango is the only tour operator to offer a discount to these small families for all children up to the age of 16 travelling with just one adult. Going on a Mango Holiday is an opportunity for single parents to meet other single parents and many single parents become friends and stay in touch after their holiday. Mango is not a single parent dating organisation. If you are interested in single parent dating you should check out our links page, which recommends a few organisations helping single parents meet. Being single with kids can be a daunting experience but it can be fun and we have designed a programme of holidays and weekend breaks for solo travellers with children to make sure they have some fun. Our solo holidays for single parents with children consist of adventure and activity breaks, ski holidays and holidays in the sun. Mango single parent holidays take place in the UK and overseas. In the UK we have holidays in Devon, Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire and we have a Christmas Party weekend in Warwickshire at the end of November. Mango holidays for single parent families overseas travel to Mallorca, Malta, Cyprus, Jersey, Morocco and Lapland to see Santa. |
