Boy on ropesMANGO Single Parent Holidays offer a programme of holidays for single parent families. In spite of the growing number of single parent families, very few holiday companies cater specifically for their needs.

It was with this in mind that MANGO Single Parent Holidays was set up in 2003 and its programme of holidays specifically designed for Single Parent families has grown every year since. MANGO Single Parent Holidays runs holidays in the UK and overseas. There is a MANGO Single Parent Holiday to suit every Single Parent family whatever their interest. In the UK we have Single Parent Holidays near to the coast for those who like the sun, sea, surf and beach. Our single parent holidays in the Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons are ideal for those who want more activities and enjoy the outdoors.

For those Single Parent Families looking for sunshine overseas, this year we have MANGO Single Parent Holidays to Jersey, Mallorca and Cyprus. In all our overseas locations we have found plenty for you to do as well as enjoy the sunshine, there are walks, boat rides, train and tram journeys, snorkeling, diving and beach games, which we call Beach Olympics. The MANGO Single Parent Family ski holiday to Romania in the February Half term has now run for 3 years. The package, which includes all ski hire, 2 ski lessons a day, full board and a trip to Dracula's castle has proven to be very popular.

All MANGO Single Parent Holidays operate as group holidays and are accompanied by a MANGO co-ordinator who is part of the holiday group. The MANGO co-ordinator is there with the group the whole of the time organising games, activities, visits and making sure everyone is having a great time. Their job is to make sure everything runs smoothly. We meet up each day after breakfast and plan our day together and then we meet up before dinner so that we eat together.

Key Principles of MANGO:Visit the ATOL web site

  • MANGO try to arrange it so that you can fly from any airport of your choice whenever possible.
  • MANGO will meet you at your destination airport and transfer you to your accommodation.
  • You can buy your own flight or MANGO can purchase your flight.
  • MANGO has an ATOL Licence (no. 6200) which means your money is always secure.
  • All trips are accompanied by a MANGO co-ordinator who will meet everyone after breakfast to organise activities and outings for the day.
  • Meals will be included or arranged together.
  • You can always opt out of any activities or go off and eat on your own for a change.
  • MANGO will always offer a reduction for children even if sharing with just one adult.

MANGO Single Parent Family Holidays stay in a variety of accommodation from hostels and barns to cottages, lodges and hotels. We go to the countryside and the seaside. There is something for every taste and every budget, and we always have fun.

Girl on aerial slideMANGO Single Parent Family Holidays is run by Jackie Lewis and Steve Barber from their base in Shropshire. Both Jackie and Steve have been single parents themselves and understand that going on holiday as a Single Parent Family can be lonely and difficult. Jackie and Steve have been running walking holidays for adults for several years (see their website at www.tracksntrips.co.uk). It was the group format for their walking holidays, which lead to the development of MANGO Single Parent Family Holidays. In fact it was single parents on their holidays who suggested that the format would be ideal for Single Parent Family Holidays.

A happy MANGO GroupHolidays for lone parents and their children can often be a nightmare if you are surrounded by two parent families and feel left out. Often the kids make friends, leaving adults feeling left out and lonely. That is why we established MANGO so that parents can join in the fun too and meet other adults in the same situation.

All holidays are accompanied by Jackie and Steve or a MANGO organiser and there is something arranged every day. But if you feel like doing your own thing one day there is no compulsion to join in the group - it is up to you.

Our experience so far shows that the group becomes one big family.

MANGO also runs activities for parents and their children, who want to get out and do things together around the West Midlands. Activities so far have included walks, barbecues, bike rides in the park, pottery-making and bowling.
